How Lead with How uses AI

Plain language. No legalese where it isn't needed.

What AI does inside Lead with How

The How Agent reads what you put in (stories, photos, documents, articles, scrapbook notes) and helps you make sense of it over time. Specifically:

• Reads your stories and documents so it can answer questions about your work, surface patterns, and help you draft posts, letters, and updates in your voice.
• Summarizes documents you upload, so you can find what's in them without re-reading.
• Generates content (posts, board updates, donor letters, partner gratitude) based on what you've captured.
• Speaks to you, if you choose. Voice input transcribes what you say. Voice output reads replies back to you.

Which AI providers we use

• Anthropic Claude for text generation, summaries, and agent conversations.
• OpenAI for transcribing voice input and for text-to-speech (the agent's voice).
• ElevenLabs for optional voice cloning. Off by default. You opt in if you want the agent to sound like you.

What gets sent to these providers

When you invoke an AI feature, the relevant content (the story you're drafting from, the document you're asking about, the conversation history with the agent) is sent to the provider so they can process it and send a result back. We don't send anything except what's needed for that specific feature.

What does not happen

• Anthropic and OpenAI do not train their models on data sent through their APIs. Your stories are not becoming training data.
• Lead with How does not sell or share your content with anyone beyond what's strictly needed to power the feature you're using.
• We do not share your content with other Lead with How users unless you explicitly make a story or org profile public.

What you control

• You can use the Library without ever invoking AI. Capture stays useful even with all AI features off.
• Voice cloning is opt-in. Off until you choose to enable it.
• You can delete any story, document, or note at any time. Deletion removes it from our database.
• You can delete your entire account. Hit reply on any email to request it.
